The C++ Institute is a non-profit initiative managed by the Open Education and Development Group (OpenEDG). It was founded to promote the C and C++ programming languages, establish a worldwide standard for C and C++ exams, and support career growth in C and C++ programming and related fields.

The C++ Institute is dedicated to creating a global standard for C and C++ certification, enabling programming specialists, software developers, and IT professionals worldwide to objectively evaluate and showcase their programming abilities and gain acknowledgment for their expertise.

The C++ Institute has developed two certification paths: one for the C++ programming language and another for the C programming language. Each path includes three qualification levels: entry-level, associate, and professional.
